Come see life on the farm

Get to know our aquacultural farm

We’ve always thought it's important to open up La Ferme des Baleines to the public. Not only to show people where we produce our oysters, but also because we are part of the socio-economic heritage of the Île de Ré, and to share our profession and our vision for gentle, artisanal salt marsh-based aquaculture.

A visit to the farm will not just teach you about salt pond cultivation of oysters, clams, tiger prawns, and gilt-head sea bream, it will also be an authentic Île de Ré experience.

At

La Ferme des Baleines, we believe in high-quality aquaculture that respects the fragile environment of the salt marsh. We are committed to protecting the natural and environmental riches around us.

We offer a range of activities that will let you come explore the marshes of the Île de Ré: a unique natural environment that is calm, centring, and full of a special kind of light.

We will offer several different activities starting in 2019*

La Ferme des Baleines Visits:

  • Visit of La Ferme des Baleines + Introduction to the Salt Marsh Ecosystem.

  • Recreational Fishing for farmed gilt-head sea bream.

  • Recreational Fishing for wild sea bass.

So, come say hello and stay for a bit of fun!
